Excellence in education is a fundamental element of the Randolph County UNITED vision of a dynamic, prosperous future for the county and for preparation for individual student success in a rapidly changing workplace.
Quality of education is a key decision issue for companies or families considering relocation to Randolph County. There are five school corporations in the county, all small by metropolitan standards. There are advantages inherent to the smaller size including individual attention to students and their opportunities to participate in sports and other extracurricular activities.
But quality of academic preparation must be competitive with larger schools; forward-thinking approaches to curricula is vital, including creative methods of combining the resources of the individual school corporations.
Randolph County UNITED plays an active role in encouraging the dialog and initiatives that lead to continuing innovation in education.
Public education budgets have been under heavy pressure for decades, a combination of available state funding, new "mandates," and increasing requirements to fund hands-on education in the STEM fields: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Local fund-raising is becoming an important source of funding, including local projects, the county-wide Community Foundation and education foundations devoted to individual school corporations. Education-focused agencies and national foundations are providing a variety of grant opportunities.
Randolph County UNITED help schools remain abreast of funding options and will facilitate dialog and initiatives.
Individual school corporations offer a variety of volunteer opportunities and welcome innovative ideas from individuals or groups within the community.
Of course, direct support via individual and corporate charitable giving is an important element in local fundraising.
Actively assisting the teams that execute fundraising projects is an excellent way to help schools achieve and maintain fundraising momentum.
Randolph County UNITED stands ready to actively assist in facilitating and promoting fundraising projects.
