The Randolph County UNITED mission is forward-looking: envisioning a dynamic, prosperous future and developing the plans and programs that move us steadily toward the vision. Housing is an excellent example.
Simply stated, in the marketplace of the 2020s, it is important that every home, every student, and every business or civic organization have fully competitive access to the power of the Internet. Assuring this access for Randolph County is a cooperative effort of providers, current users and potential users.
Randolph County UNITED engages directly in facilitating the dialog and partnerships that help achieve universal access.
A less obvious but rapidly emerging role of Internet access relates to "leveling the playing field." With competitive access, small enterprises anywhere in the U.S. are able to compete on a national or even global scale, meaning that a small start-up in the most remote part of a non-metro county can, in fact, compete anywhere.
The ramification of this truth is not yet fully understood, except in the places where it is becoming reality -- and that includes Randolph County, Indiana.
Randolph County UNITED's Economic Development Division will play a continuing, active role in helping businesses fully understand and fully exploit this opportunity.
