In cooperation with Ball State's Indiana Communities Institute
the RCU Board of Directors identified FIVE INITIATIVES
crucial to the Long-Term Progress of Randolph County.
RCU's Role is to Energize and Facilitate the
ACTION COMMITTEES that are addressing these issues.
Each initiative offers a chance for feedback and engagement.
Concerns: A perception of "not enough to do" in a rural county and a general feeling of lack of progress in energizing 21st Century lifestyle. Health and fitness play an important role. Solutions are a blend of attitude, awareness and creatively structuring and communicating activities. MORE
Concern: Since the economic dislocations of the plant closing era, population trends and business activity in Randolph County have been flat. The Randolph County UNITED mission calls for new energy in attracting and retaining new enterprises. MORE
Concerns: Avaiable housing to meet current hiring needs, condition of neighborhoods because of aging or abandoned properties and long-term ability to meet the requirements of successful business or residential relocation. MORE
Concerns: to meet changing 21st Century marketplace demands, public schools must invest heavily in technology-focused education. Budgets often do not allow high-value curriculum adjustments. Solutions include community fund-raising and creativity in curriculum planning including intra-county cooperation. MORE
Concern: In the internet era, competitive access is critical for businesses, schools and organizations anywhere in the county. Solutions include constant monitoring of needs and active dialog with service providers. MORE
These challenges are real, and they require objective acceptance of the challenges and a shared feeling that we must work together toward solutions. Your feedback and ideas are important. There are multiple get-involved opportunities.

Through our partnership with the Community Foundation of Randolph County and our work with Cultivating Community, we have founded a Childcare Coalition. The goal of our coalition is to connect and provide all our childcare providers with resources, so they can continue serving our community with a strong network of support. We also want to serve Randolph County families by connecting them with resources and sharing what our childcares are doing to help spread the word about Randolph County's excellent childcare options.

Randolph County Park Directory
Our Quality of Life Action group created this directory as one of their 2022 goals. We want families to know that Randolph County is a great place to live, work, and play. This directory shows families some of the great places we offer to spend time outside playing together. Parks are for the whole family and there is something for everyone to enjoy.
